After Care PDF Print E-mail

As a Registered Nurse who also worked in the community for 15 years, make no mistake you will be in good hands. I deliver your individual and personalised care evaluated daily.

This service has proved to be why many clients when coming to Cyprus for surgery, are choosing Cosmedicare4u. They are reassured and comforted in the knowledge that a British nurse is checking on their condition every day, even though they are in another country.

"Peace of mind and experience you can trust with Cosmedicare4U!"

Going it alone, with the clinic and surgeon miles away, is the way I had my surgery. Although I arranged everything through a coordinator, she was not medically trained, nor was she even qualified in first aid, so when I developed problems, she told me in a very matter of fact way to ring for a taxi and take myself to the clinic. On arrival and after a lengthy car journey I then had to wait for a doctor. When the coordinator finally arrived, she did nothing at all to reassure me and just panicked which only served to make the whole experience worse.

Complications rarely happen, it's true. But what you have to ask yourself is this. "What would I do and how would I feel if anything happened to me?" Also how would your husband / partner or family cope if they were with you? Who would you call and would that person know what to do in any given situation?

You may phone me anytime no matter what time of the day or night, if you have any concerns or worries no matter how small, I will visit you even though I may have visited you earlier that day. I will offer the appropriate treatment, advice and support but if I am concerned, will take you for specialist medical treatment.

Nursing aftercare includes:

  • I liaise with the surgeon daily regarding your post-operative condition and report any abnormalities to him.
  • I supply  all your sterile dressings, gauze pads, antiseptic lotion, skin creams.
  • I supply your abdominal binders, compression garments, and sport bras.
  • Check your temperature, this is important as an elevation could indicate an infection, which could be chest ( if you have been a smoker) ear, throat, wound or urine. The risk of infection is less than 1% and antibiotics reduce this risk dramatically. However, if infection does occur, it can be serious. Early detection and treatment is crucial to ensure a speedy and uneventful recovery.
  • Observe for allergic reactions to medications/change medication and report same to the surgeon.
  • Redress incisions and observe for infection
  • Remove sutures.
  • Administer injections for the relief of pain and nausea.
  • Assist you when bathing and washing your hair. (especially benifcial after having multiple procedures)
  • Answer any questions and give constant support. Turning the medical jargon into plain English!
  • Offer advice on diet, mobilisation etc.
  • Check your blood pressure, to make sure it is within normal limits (typically clients taking medication)
  • Observe your skin tone and general condition, important in detecting anaemia which may happen following Liposuction.
  • Take blood samples.
  • Observe your psychological health for signs of depression, which can sometimes happen following surgery and offer reassuring and appropriate advice and support.
  • Accompany you to see the surgeon should any complications arise or to reassure you prior to your departure.
  • Continued contact when you go back home, so any concerns may be addressed quickly.

So nothing for you to do, or to worry about.
